The gigs to come

Hi all!

We hope you’ve recovered from the Bank Holiday weekend and ready to rock again!

Last weekend we had lots of fun bringing COMADISCO to the Dalston Boys Club for the Land of Kings Festival (few pix here), we played amongst big chandeliers, animal masks, nude paintings, fake guns and lots of beautiful, smiley people. The night then turned into morning when we moved a certain Clapton basement, but that’s another story…

This Saturday 12th we’re taking over the wonderful Art-Deco Rio Cinema foyer and turning into the “Lobby Comadisco”  all night, as part of the Avant gard- performance-art-music-installation event  At Home with the Ludskis  May Parade Edition .  Their last event sold out very quickly so come down early or buy tickets online to avoid being left out!

Next Friday 18th we’ll be playing records on the Queen of Hoxton roof top and hopefully by then this depressing weather will have given way to Spring, so swing by and share a few gallons of Pimms with us!

Last but not least our very own COMADISCO on the 25th May will see Psychemagik guest DJing  and Jamie Blanco performing live, all on a Funktion One sound-system! And we’ll be rocking it until 5am! Incidentally Psychemagik are on the exceptionally up-to-the-minute Beats in Space radio/web show this week, catch their 90 minutes mix here. They are good.

See you on the (various) dancefloors!

COMADISCO Friday 20th April with Ray Mang

As you can see, lately we’ve been busy with our day job (fighting crime and helping little old ladies cross the street in Clapton), but this weekend your faithful are back on their night job and ready to rock the dancefloor!

Firstly COMADISCO this Friday will be at a new venue between Dalston and Stoke Newington (revealed on the day) and our guest of honor will be Ray Mang (DFA/Mangled). A veteran of the Nu House/Disco Dub scene since late 90′s, Ray has produced for a number of era defining labels such as Eskimo, Nuphonic, Noid, DFA and his own imprint Mangled over the years. His remix of S.E.V. by 9DW (Ene records) has been a COMADISCO staple for almost 2 years now and his remake of “Love On The Real Train” on DFA is pure magic. The venue will be dressed by our own in-house decoration wing, Moist Yet Workable, working their frilly muscle, and the entry will be  will be a recession resistant £4 all night. No guest list as usual. Come as you are and see you on the dancefloor!

The following day we’ll be rolling out of bed to join Ben Pistor (of Disco Bloodbath fame) in the main room at The Lock Tavern in Camden Town for his “Let’s hold hands” series. Foreign postcode, classic venue, same quality music.

On Thursday 26 April we’re back in Hackney at the Queen of Hoxton for Drumm, DJing after a few bands, one of which, MT , is well worth coming down early for; they’re a really talented bunch and their frontman, as well as being a gifted songwriter, is one of the best cabbage-tennis player we’ve ever met.  Just don’t let him near your bedroom window late on a Sunday night…

That’s all folks, see you on Friday night to let the Disco ball roll!

This past Comadisco

Our latest Comadisco was, again, an amazing night, thank you beautiful girls for coming down on a rainy night to dance the blues away, thank you guys for shooting lasers beams from your awesome beards…and thank you, Andy Blake, for 4 hours of solid, excellent music, we were exhausted by the end!

We were so busy dancing to Andy’s eclectic set that we stopped taking photos early in the night, but  here is a few pix.

However, for your aural pleasure only, your forever faithful party poppers Future Sound of Clapton did manage to record their humble set this time. Here’s the first hour or so:

and here’s the second:

Our next Comadisco will be on the 20th of April, at a different venue, but we’ll reveal it nearer the time as usual.

Happy listening!

Comadisco Saturday 17th of March with Andy Blake

It’s been a busy few weeks for us and we squeezed a fun gig at the Book Club for Big in Japan at the end of last month (click here for pix).

But we’re super excited about this Saturday: Comadisco is back again in one of our favourite  basements and we’ve invited to join us at the decks Dissident and current World Unknown flag bearer, Andy Blake.

Not much can be said about the man that hasn’t been said before. We all know how ridiculously deep and wide this man’s crates are but that’s not the point. The point is that only few DJs can be entertaining as well as educational and uncomfortably pleasant all at the same time and he’s one of them. Every time we listen to his genre-less WU mixes online, his passion seeps through. Give them a listen. But maybe not at work. Some are pretty intense.

As usual you’ll get your party popper resident, Future Sound of Clapton and our in-house decoration team, Moist Yet Workable, working their magic at the yet-secret-venue (will be revealed on the day) on the night. See you on the dancefloor!
